An interesting and diverse route from Aberdeen, taking in various places of interest together with some great driving roads and scenery along the way.
This should be viewed just as a suggested route, it can be followed closely, or equally can be adapted to suit as required, it’s up to you.
We have however added a couple of recommended stop off points for dining and accommodation for consideration. A hearty breakfast at the Maryculter House Hotel would set you up nicely to start your adventure, a light lunch at the Grampian Transport Museum could keep you going for the afternoon, or further on up at Corgarff you’ll find the Goodbrand and Ross café/shop in a scenic location.
The route has been split into 2 sections, the first ending at the exclusive and award winning Highland Club in Fort Augustus, a well know location to Hire Road. Fort Augustus is a small but busy village with good facilities, the village itself is only a 5 minute walk from the Highland Club.
Both legs can take around 4-5 hours to complete with only a couple of stops, so adding most or all of the stops on the routes could easily take most of a day to complete each way.
